LANCASTER, PA — Authorities say a Pennsylvania teen charged with ambushing a man with a gun outside a home was allegedly driven to the scene by his mother.

The Lancaster County DA’s office announced this week that Amari Poole, 15, waived his preliminary hearing on March 27 on charges of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and additional offenses.

Poole is accused of shooting a gun at the victim outside a residence in the 400 block of Green Street, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the afternoon of December 13, 2024.

Surveillance video showed Poole and two other individuals, all wearing face coverings, exiting a vehicle in front of the residence shortly before 4:30 p.m. and then lying in wait, police said.

Poole and a second person, identified as Willito Colon, then opened fire on the victim when he walked onto the residence’s porch.

Poole fled the scene after the shooting.

Patrolling officers nearby responded to the scene after hearing the sound of gunfire, only to find a vehicle driven by Poole’s mother, Lindsay Colon, speeding away in reverse on Dauphin Street.

The officers initiated a traffic stop. Upon approaching the vehicle, they noticed the odor of recently fired ammunition, according to police.

Officers spotted a handgun in plain sight on the rear passenger floor board after the vehicle’s occupants, Lindsay and Willito Colon, exited the vehicle.

The residence sustained damage during the shooting.

Prosecutors say Poole is prohibited by law from possessing a firearm due to his criminal history and due to the fact that he is a juvenile.

Poole is currently being held at the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center in lieu of $500,000 bail.

The cases for Lindsay Colon and Willito Colon are still pending, officials said.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
