SEQUATCHIE COUNTY, TN — A Tennessee man is behind bars after he allegedly stabbed a teenager and his wife, who he reportedly found in bed together.

The Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that the homicide is believed to have occurred early on March 8, 2025.

Deputies were dispatched to the Emergency Room at Erlanger-Sequatchie on the report of a female with stab wounds that were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Investigators determined the victim received the wounds at a residence in the Fredonia community of Sequatchie County and went to that location to search for any other potential victims or suspects, as well as a crime scene.

Upon arrival, deputies found two other individuals, both males, with wounds “appearing to have been caused by a cutting instrument.”

One of these two male individuals was deceased and the other had non-life-threatening wounds.

Police later determined the suspect to be 41-year-old Jonathan Belk.

According to WTVC, the deceased male, 18-year-old Billy Floyd was found stuffed in a trash can with multiple stab wounds. The female taken to the hospital was Belks wife, Jada Gholston.

The Sequatchie Post reported an arrest report said Belk arrived home to find his Gholston in bed with Floyd.

Belk attacked both and stuffed Floyd into a trash can while Gholston escaped.

Deputies found Belk covered in blood when they arrived on scene.

Belk then reportedly told police, “I am worried about the relationship with my wife due to the fact that I off’d him.”

Floyd’s godmother told WTVC that Jada and Billy had been in a sexual relationship for at least a year and a half, and says it began when Billy was 15.

Belk faces criminal homicide charges and is lodged in the Sequatchie County Jail.
