FORT WORTH, TX — Authorities say a Texas man is facing serious charges after allegedly killing his mother during what he described as an “exorcism” and sharing a graphic image of the crime scene with friends via Snapchat.
WKRC reported the Fort Worth Police Department responded to a home around 1:30 a.m. on April 18, following a report from an anonymous caller who said they had received a disturbing photograph showing a possibly deceased woman.
The caller identified the sender as 23-year-old Alexander Taylor Valdez and provided his address.
When officers arrived at the residence, they were met by Valdez, who was reportedly covered in blood.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Valdez was holding a Bible and told police, “It was an exorcism.”
When asked about the blood, he allegedly replied, “I was doing witchcraft to kill my mom,” adding that her body was inside the home.
Inside the residence, officers discovered the body of Valdez’s mother in the master bedroom, showing visible trauma to her face and upper body.
A deceased dog was also found nearby.
According to Fox 4 KDFW, the woman was identified as 58-year-old Tersita Sayson.
Investigators noted the presence of a broken jewelry box with blood and hair, which they believe may have been used as a weapon.
Several of Valdez’s friends who had received the photo via Snapchat arrived at the scene and confirmed to police that the image showed the victim, the dog, and surrounding blood.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details regarding charges or a possible motive.
Valdez was taken into custody, but he refused to answer any questions and asked for an attorney.
He is lodged in the Tarrant County Jail on $750,000 bail.
