KNOXVILLE, TN — A Tennessee woman is facing a first-degree murder charge after allegedly shooting and killing her boyfriend during a confrontation at their home on Saturday.

According to a police report obtained by WVLT News, patrol officers and detectives responded to a residence on Weaver Hollow Way in Knoxville, Tennessee, and found 20-year-old Dsani Badgett along with the body of Stephen Morgan, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.

Police say Badgett told officers she had discovered evidence on Morgan’s Yahoo account suggesting he had been cheating. She reportedly retrieved a gun from the nightstand drawer of their bedroom and sat on the couch and waited for Morgan to return home from work.

Once he arrived, an argument escalated. Badgett claimed that Morgan attempted to take the firearm from her, which led to the gun being fired. Morgan was struck in the left hand and in the upper chest near his armpit, the report indicated.

Authorities later charged Badgett with first-degree murder in connection to the fatal shooting.
