SAN YSIDRO, CA — Police say a man allegedly threw his girlfriend off a third-floor walkway, killing her, during a domestic altercation.

San Diego Police say the incident occurred at an apartment complex in the 500 block of West San Ysidro Boulevard, according to KNSD.

Officers responded around 7:30 p.m. to a report of a woman falling into a courtyard and found 61-year-old Irene Williams with severe head injuries and a broken leg.

Williams was rushed to a nearby hospital, but she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police arrested 57-year-old Albert Turner, who they say was Williams’ boyfriend and had been living with her for about a month. Investigators say the couple got into an argument inside the apartment before the situation escalated.

“At some point, Williams began throwing Turner’s belongings over the railing of the balcony corridor,” police said in a statement. Turner then allegedly “threw Williams over the railing onto the concrete below.”

A neighbor told local news that Williams appeared frail and was often seen around the building.

“She’s just a frail, little old lady. He was big, you know, muscular — you know, he was a big guy,” the neighbor said.

Turner was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with murder. He remains held without bail at San Diego Central Jail, with arraignment set for Thursday afternoon.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
