AVENTURA, FL — Police say a Florida man allegedly ran over a woman after she declined his request to smell her feet.
Police have since arrested 28-year-old Elmoncy Sercle on a charge of aggravated battery, following the August 24 incident at the Serena Hotel, according to WPLG.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, the woman and Sercle first connected on the dating platform Seeking, where they arranged to meet in person at the hotel, located at 2820 NE 214th Street. The woman told police that the purpose of the meeting was to sell Sercle a pair of used sneakers.
But once inside the hotel room, things took an unsettling turn. Sercle allegedly asked to smell her feet and expressed interest in buying her worn shoes. She told him her rate was $1,000, citing her work as a foot model. When she stepped into the restroom, she said she saw Sercle flee the room, prompting her to chase him down to the hotel’s parking garage.
“When I got there, he just wanted to sniff my feet and I didn’t feel comfortable with that,” the victim said in an interview with WPLG Local 10 News. “I mean, you could have my sneakers all you want… they’re just stinky old sneakers. But people like weird things.”
According to the affidavit, she initially told Sercle the sneakers were in her car. But after spotting him running out of the room, she followed him, suspecting he may have taken something from her.
As described in both the affidavit and the woman’s statement to WPLG, Sercle was behind the wheel of a red Mercedes SUV in the parking structure. She said he passed her, stopped, then performed a three-point turn before driving directly into her.
“He did a three-point turn and actually hit me with a car. Ran me over,” she told the station. “By the grace of God, I’m still standing today.”
Police said the woman sustained bruises to her back, arms, and chest, along with road rash, and required immediate medical care. Sercle allegedly fled the scene before later being taken into custody.
The woman described the ordeal as “extremely bizarre” and unlike anything she had experienced before. “I’ve met a lot of people who have foot fetishes, obviously, and nobody has ever done anything to this caliber,” she said.
Authorities reviewing Sercle’s history noted that he had been involved in other incidents with a similar pattern, according to police.
