, PA (PPP)— Lynette Lashon Brimage, 28 of Brentwood, has been charged with simple assault for reportedly attacking her boyfriend.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at around 11:16 am, officers responded to a report of a man who had been assaulted at the Sunoco on Clairton Boulevard.

The man, who was visibly upset and had a fresh-red bruise above his right eye, told the officers that his girlfriend, Brimage, had attacked him because he wouldn’t give her money to buy crack cocaine, says the affidavit.

Officers proceeded to the couple’s apartment where they found Brimage. She told the officers that she and her boyfriend had a history of domestic violence and that they had fought earlier that day over money for cigarettes, says the affidavit.

She told officers that she had thrown a shoe at him while he was lying in bed and they began to fight. She further admitted to “beating his ass,” says the affidavit.

Officers placed Brimage into police custody and transported her to the Brentwood Police Station, according to the affidavit.

Affidavit of Probable Cause
On Sunday, March 12, 2023, at approximately 11:16 hours Officer Wagner and I, Officer Kelly, were dispatched to the Sunoco in Brentwood on Clairton BVLD for a report of a male who had been assaulted by his girlfriend and had head injuries.

Upon arrival at the Sunoco, Officers made contact with a male who was later identified as ███████, who was visibly upset and appeared to have a red-flushed face. Officers asked ███████ what had just happened, and he said that his girlfriend, later identified as, Lynette Brimage, attacked him. It appeared that ███████ had a fresh-red bruise above his right eye and appeared to have fresh red marks on his forehead. ███████ said that Brimage asked him for money earlier, for crack, and he replied “no” and that’s when Brimage began “whaling on him”. Officers asked ███████ where Brimage was, and he said that she should be in their apartment at ██████████████, in apartment number ██.

Officers made contact with Brimage and her sister at ██████████████ in apartment number ██. Brimage said that she and ███████ fought today and that they have a history of domestic violence. Brimage stated to officers that she came home earlier and asked ███████ for money for cigarettes, and he said no, so she threw a shoe at him while he was lying in bed, and that they started fighting. It should be noted that Brimage stated that she did “beat his ass”. Brimage said that after their first fight, she went downstairs to get her sister, and they fought again, and this is when ███████ left the residence.

Brimage was placed into police custody and transported to the Brentwood Police Station.

███████ was transported to Bentwood AHN by Baldwin EMS and was treated for his injuries. Officers visited ███████ at the hospital and advised him of a PFA order.

Based on my observations of ███████’s apparent injuries and both ███████’s and Brimage`s statements, I believe that Brimage caused ███████ bodily injury.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
