CUTLER BAY, FL — Authorities in South Florida say a 26-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly stabbing her 15-year-old sister multiple times inside their Cutler Bay home Sunday afternoon.
According to CBS News Miami, police identified the suspect as Lynn My Le, who now faces a felony attempted murder charge.
The attack happened around 3:20 p.m. at the family’s home, where, according to an arrest affidavit cited by the station, the teenage victim was asleep in the living room when she awoke to find Le going through her phone.
When the girl confronted her sister and tried to retrieve the phone, WTVJ reported, Le allegedly “armed herself with a black knife.”
Investigators said the teen ran toward the front door, but Le chased her and stabbed her roughly four times in the back. As the victim collapsed, Le continued to stab her “all over,” according to WPLG, citing the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office report.
“The victim pleaded for her life,” the affidavit stated, before Le finally stopped the attack and left her sister wounded on the floor. Police said they found the 15-year-old suffering from at least ten puncture wounds when they arrived.
Authorities told CBS News Miami that Le refused to speak to detectives after being taken into custody. She was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where she remains held without bond, according to WPLG.
In court Monday, a judge appointed Le a public defender, ordered her to stay away from the victim, and denied bond, WTVJ reported.
A motive for the stabbing has not been released, and police have not provided an update on the teen’s current condition as of Wednesday evening.
Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
