Affidavit of Probable Cause
On 26 March 2023 at approx. 0040 hours, Crafton Police were dispatched to ██████████████ #1 for a male/female verbal domestic: ACC advised that the tenants in apartment #1 are screaming and slamming doors. I. Officer Washinski, along with IPD Officer Williams, responded. Officers knocked repeatedly on the front and back doors multiple times with no answer. There was mail in the mailbox for Apt #1 to ███████. Officers could see inside the apartment through the windows and blinds. The apartment appeared un-kept, in disarray, but we did not notice anyone inside nor anyone in distress.
I then spoke with the reporting party / tenant in apartment █, ███████. He advised that he heard a lot of slamming coming from #1. He also saw a white male exit the apartment and grab things out of ███████ vehicle which was parked on ███████ Street in front of the apartment complex. He said that he recognized the male from a previous domestic situation with ███████, and another physical altercation between the w/m and a b/m visitor of ███████. He said the male drove off in a large red SUV, unknown make/model. He also said that CPO has had prior contact with ███████ in the past, and had prior contact with the w/m that fled. He described him as a 30 y/o w/m with short dark hair and an average build.
Officers went and knocked on each door one more time. The doors were found to be unlocked as well. I opened each door and was met by a medium sized dog (brown boxer). There was dirt and footprints on the rear door. The. rear door also appeared to be damaged, unknown if it was old or new. I yelled the tenants name (███████) with no answer. While the door was open, I did not notice or hear any signs of anyone in trouble or needing medical attention.
Officers also checked the car in front and found it to be ███████s. The doors were unlocked and the ignition key was lying on the front seat. Knowing that we had past incidents and contacts with ███████, Officers cleared in order to see if we could make contact via phone. I called and left a voicemail on the two numbers we had for ███████. There was a past report where her step father, ███████, called in for a welfare check,. I called him and advised him of the current situation. He stated that he will respond to control the dog so we can sweep the interior of the residence. He also stated that the apartment is under his wifes name, ███████. ███████ also reported that he just learned that her boyfriend “AJ” is abusive and is possibly involved with drugs. He also confirmed that he drives a red Ford Expedition, and matches the description provided by ███████.
There was one past CPO domestic disturbance report in 2022 between Alexander “AJ” Carricato and ███████.
Officers returned to ██████████████ and made entry into the apartment. The apartment was trashed with clothes and misc items thrown all over. The living room had a broken vase with tore up flowers in the middle of the room. There was an open trash bag and 3 or 4 empty packs of packaged meat. There was a wooden table with broken legs. Officers found that the rear door had a broken door frame and it appeared as though the door was kicked open.
███████, ███████, and ███████ met us at the apartment. ███████ reported that the apartment was not like this when she left today. She reported to ending the relationship with “AJ” earlier. A brown futon was missing from the living room ($200) and one red pair of Ugz Boots ($200) was also missing. ███████ advised that both items were a gift from Carricato to her. The vehicle was checked with nothing of value missing. The front drivers tire was now flat. They car key that was found was originally in a drawer in the bedroom of the apartment. The only items that were missing/stolen were items which were given to ███████ from Carricato.. All other electronics, firearms, jewelry, and other misc items were not touched or taken.
███████ emailed me text messages that she received from Carricato this evening showing his erratic behavior regarding their relationship ending as well.
Your honor, based on the above facts and circumstances, I respectfully request a warrant be issued to Alexander Carricato for the above listed charges.
