HOLLY, MI — Federal prosecutors say Chason William-Gregory Pointer, 42, of Grand Blanc, has been indicted on charges alleging he transported a minor across state lines for sexual activity and tried to entice the child online.

Pointer is charged with transporting a minor for criminal sexual activity and coercion and enticement of a minor, according to ClickOnDetroit, which reported federal authorities said he contacted the child online, later drove in the middle of the night from Michigan to the child’s home in northern Ohio, and transported the girl back across state lines to a Michigan hotel. Investigators also allege Pointer had previously traveled to Ohio and communicated with the child through a social media messaging platform.

Authorities said Pointer was arraigned in federal court and pleaded not guilty. A federal magistrate judge ordered him held without bond after an April 10 hearing in Flint, finding that no conditions of release would reasonably assure the safety of the community.

Federal investigators said the case remains ongoing. The FBI is asking anyone with information, or anyone who believes their child may have had contact with Pointer through youth soccer in the Holly area, to contact the Detroit Field Office at 313-965-2323 or submit a tip online.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
