VINTON COUNTY, OH — Gary Siders Jr. pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges in two separate Vinton County cases, including the child endangerment case tied to the discovery of 16 children living in deplorable conditions and a second case alleging sexual offenses involving a minor.
According to 10TV, a judge continued Siders’ existing $300,000 bond in the child endangerment case and added a $250,000 bond in the child sex abuse case, bringing his total bond to $550,000.
Earlier reporting from ABC 6 said Siders and his wife, Elizabeth Siders, were each indicted on two counts of sexual battery and two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Investigators said those allegations date back to 2022 over roughly eight months and involve a victim who was more than 10 years younger than the defendants and not part of their immediate family.
Authorities said the broader investigation intensified after law enforcement arrived at the family’s Hamden home on June 30 and found 16 children living in a feces-covered 12-by-12 room. Gary Siders Jr., Elizabeth Siders and Christina Siders were each indicted on 19 counts of child endangerment, while Gary Siders Sr. faces 16 counts, and Elizabeth Siders is still awaiting arraignment.
Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
