GREENSBORO, GA – Two former Christian school teachers have been arrested for sexually assaulting a student in Georgia.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation charged Bonnie Elizabeth Brown, 25, and Sherri Delle Mauldin, 60, for allegedly raping a student at Nathanael Greene Academy in Siloam, Georgia.

Authorities say the Greene County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to investigate allegations of sexual contact between a student and a former Nathanael Greene Academy teacher on June 14, 2024.

The investigation confirmed that Brown had engaged in sexual contact with a student while employed as a teacher at Nathanael Greene Academy. She was currently teaching in Wilkes County before her arrest on March 21, 2025.

Three days later, the GBI arrested Mauldin, and charged her with Improper Sexual Contact by an Employee, Agent, or Foster Parent, Aggravated Child Molestation, and Statutory Rape.

Both women were booked into the Greene County Sheriff’s Office Jail.

Investigators have not released additional details of the alleged crimes, but the victim has made statements through his lawyer.

The victim’s attorney, Ashley Mitchell, told 11alive.com that her client experienced sexual abuse on and off school grounds.

“There was physical contact at the school and outside the school,” Mitchell stated.

In a statement issued through Mitchell, the victim talked about the situation.

“I am relieved that these two women have been arrested and the crimes are being fully investigated,” the statement read. “These women took advantage of their positions as my teachers. My school did not protect me as a child. I see that now, and I hope that these arrests will protect our community and children in it.”

Mitchell also said there is “information to suggest that potentially other teachers may have been involved with other victims.”

The School issued a statement on the case, saying, “While being careful not to interfere with law enforcement’s investigation, NGA’s Administration and Board of Trustees are conducting their own investigation to determine any and all appropriate measures which need to be taken by the school. As part of that investigation, the Board of Trustees is holding a closed session meeting on an emergency basis. NGA’s Administration and Board of Trustees will be providing further information following the emergency board meeting.”

The Wilkes County School District, where Brown was employed at the time of her arrest, also issued a press release.

“School officials were not aware of the arrest until after the individual was taken into custody, nor were we informed of the criminal charges until the information was made public by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Friday,” the statement stated. “This individual is no longer a teacher at WWPS. While we understand that the circumstances leading to these charges occurred prior to her employment with Wilkes County Schools, we are fully prepared to cooperate with the GBI in their ongoing investigation and any legal proceedings.”

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
