MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. — A 49-year-old Macomb Township man has been bound over for trial after prosecutors said he arranged a sexual encounter with someone he believed was a 15-year-old girl and was arrested when he showed up for the meeting.
According to a report from MLive, New Baltimore police were waiting at the meeting location and took the man into custody instead of the teenager he expected to meet.
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said the man was bound over as charged on April 23 by Judge William H. Hackel III of the 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore. The charges include accosting a child for immoral purposes, a four-year felony, using a computer to commit a crime, a seven-year felony, and possession of cocaine, heroin or another narcotic under 25 grams, also a four-year felony.
Lucido said protecting children is a core duty of a just society and that authorities will use every lawful tool available to identify, prosecute and hold predators fully accountable.
The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned before Judge Anthony R. Servitto in Macomb County Circuit Court on May 11, 2026, at 1:30 p.m.
