CLERMONT COUNTY, OH — A 21-year-old Ohio man is facing a sweeping list of felony charges after investigators say he posed as a woman online to exploit minors, using threats and stolen images to coerce victims into sending explicit material.

According to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Nicholas Scott on Dec. 26 following an investigation that began with a cybertip forwarded by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on Oct. 31, WXIX reported.

Authorities say the tip involved alleged online exploitation that occurred on Snapchat earlier this year.

Investigators identified the victim as a juvenile living in Missouri who believed they were communicating with a woman online, according to information released by the sheriff’s office and the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office. Officials said the victim sent a nude image to the account in July, after which Scott allegedly demanded additional images and videos. When the victim did not comply, authorities say Scott threatened to distribute the explicit material to the juvenile’s friends and family.

According to investigators, Scott carried out the scheme by using photos and videos of an adult woman from Colorado to pose as her online. Prosecutors and deputies said the woman whose images were used was unaware her photos had been taken and used without her consent. Authorities also allege Scott solicited explicit material and money from multiple people using the same tactic.

The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office said detectives traced the email account and IP address connected to the activity to Scott’s home on Bethel Maple Road in Tate Township. Deputies executed a search warrant at the residence on Dec. 26. Scott cooperated with investigators and voluntarily provided a statement, according to authorities.

Court documents quoted in reporting by WXIX state Scott told investigators, “I don’t know about this specific incident but he had done something like this a long time ago.”

According to WLWT, Scott also admitted to the broader scheme and told detectives there were no local victims involved.

Scott was arrested without incident and booked into the Clermont County Jail on Dec. 26. Jail records cited by WXIX initially listed his bond at $125,000, while WKRC and WLWT reported he was first held on a $100,000 cash bond. Following additional charges and a grand jury indictment returned in late December, Scott is now being held without bond ahead of a scheduled court appearance on Jan. 31, according to WKRC.

The Clermont County Grand Jury indicted Scott on multiple felony counts, including sexual extortion, illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material, nine counts of endangering children and three counts of nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images, prosecutors said.

Authorities said the investigation remains active. The sheriff’s office continues to work with NCMEC and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to identify potential additional victims.
