I had received information from a confidential reliable informant that Jonque Patterson was selling crack cocaine from a black Jeep Latitude. I am familiar with Patterson from a prior arrest on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, where Patterson was found in possession of a large amount of cocaine and a firearm. Patterson was charged by me and later pled guilty to one felony count of possession with intent to deliver cocaine and one felony count of a person not to possess a firearm. Patterson was placed on probation for eight years by the Honorable Judge Marlan with a zero tolerance for controlled substances.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., we observed Patterson driving on Greensprings Avenue in West Mifflin. I was also aware that Patterson did not possess a valid driver’s license and his driving privileges were suspended from a previous DU[. As we followed behind the vehicle, Patterson turned right onto Virginia Avenue and failed to use his right turn signal, Detective Kintigh and I activated our red and blue emergency lights and siren and initiated a traffic stop. Patterson pulled over and stopped in the 3300 block of Virginia Avenue. As I approached the vehicle, Patterson was turned towards the center console and reaching towards it.
I asked Patterson what he was hiding, and he claimed nothing and at the same time I observed the front seat passenger, who was Identified as ███████ attempting to throw a knotted baggie corner of crack cocaine out the front passenger side window. I advised her to not throw it out the window and Detective Kintigh asked her to step out of the vehicle, and she compiled. Detective Kintigh observed the baggie corner of crack cocaine on the floorboard. I recovered a small piece of crack cocaine and $40.00 from Patterson’s coat pocket. Patterson provided verbal consent to search his vehicle, and this was captured on our body worn cameras. I recovered a plastic bag containing crack cocaine from the center console cup holder. I also recovered $850.00 in United Stated currency from Patterson’s wallet and two cellular phones.
We also recovered a used crack pipe that ███████ advised she threw out the window. ███████ advised that she smokes crack cocaine and Patterson is her boyfriend and supplies her with the crack. ███████ stated Patterson handed her the crack cocaine as they were getting pulled over and wanted her to get rid of it. Sgt. Brander and Officers Getz and Scruggs of the West Mifflin Police Department assisted on the stop. Officer Scruggs transported Patterson to the Allegheny County Jail. I notified Patterson’s probation officer of his arrest.
