INDIANAPOLIS, IN — An Indiana man wanted for allegedly shooting his pregnant wife was tracked down by authorities using advanced technology.

According to the Indianapolis Metro Police Department, detectives arrested 36-year-old Jeremy McBride Sunday night for his alleged role in a shooting investigation.

Police said McBride was apprehended approximately 30 minutes after the incident occurred thanks to information provided by community members.

On Sunday, January 19, 2025, just after 6:00 p.m., IMPD Southeast District officers responded to the 700 block of E Pleasant Run Pkwy Drive N on the report of a person shot. Inside a residence, officers located a pregnant adult female with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

The female was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive. Unfortunately, the unborn baby was later pronounced deceased by medical personnel.

IMPD Aggravated Assault Detectives quickly responded to begin the investigation. After reviewing evidence at the scene and speaking to several community members, detectives determined McBride to be the suspect in this case. This suspect information was relayed to officers working in the area.

Officers were able to identify the license plate on the vehicle McBride was most likely driving. Using license-plate-reader (LPR) technology, officers located the vehicle traveling in the 100 block of E Raymond Street. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver, later confirmed to be McBride, immediately stopped and was taken into custody without incident.

A firearm was located inside the vehicle.

McBride was transported to the City County Building to be interviewed by detectives. After consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, McBride was arrested for Attempted Murder with additional charges likely to follow.

According to WXIN, McBride admitted to premeditation in the murder, and that he was upset the victim had gotten pregnant before they were divorced.

Prosecutors allege McBride kept notes and “wrote of his frustrations with his estranged wife’s infidelity and his frustrations with their failed relationship.”

“This is truly a tragic incident, and I extend my sincerest condolences to all of those affected,” said IMPD Deputy Chief Kendale Adams. “The quick apprehension of this suspect is a testament to the invaluable information provided by our community members, the determination of our officers, and the diligent investigative work of our detectives.”

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision.
