PORT CHARLOTTE, FL — A Florida man is behind bars after brutally murdering his wife in front of their children.

Authorities say a man called 911 to report he had shot and killed his wife during a domestic argument about infidelity on January 26, in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Deputies with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office were called to the residence around 7:30 p.m. located at 13284 Holtville Avenue, Port Charlotte, Florida, in reference to a domestic disturbance.

The caller, identified as 46-year-old Rogelio Prestol, informed the operator that he had shot his wife. Deputies were immediately dispatched to the home and located one deceased adult female subject, identified as 40-year-old Jhesandra Prestol.

Two juveniles were located inside the residence unharmed.

According to KTVZ, Prestol told police he began to have suspicions that his wife was cheating on him approximately two months prior to the shooting.

Prestol explained he discovered his wife was communicating with someone online through TikTok and Telegram. He believed she was sending money to the person she was talking to and, on January 26, asked her to unlock her phone and show him her bank account. When she refused, Prestol allegedly retrieved his gun to force her compliance.

The victim attempted to escape through a window while Prestol continued shooting until he ran out of bullets. She was later found outside near the front door.

In a phone call to his brother, Prestol expressed intentions to harm himself, but after being persuaded, he ultimately called 911.

Prestol was arrested without further incident.

WFLA reported that one of the children told police he saw Prestol shoot his mother, saying “his ears hurt because he was really close” when the shooting happened. One of the children also pleaded with his mother to comply with Prestol’s demands during the incident.

“There are no words to express how terrible this is or the impact it will have on so many lives,” Sheriff Bill Prummell said. “The act itself is despicable, and only made worse by the fact that there were children in the home at the time. My heart breaks for them and for everyone who knew Jhesandra. Domestic violence of any kind is disgusting, and I pray that anyone who is experiencing it sees this and realizes that this is a possible outcome. To those people, please know that you are not alone and help is available. Don’t wait until this happens to you.”

All parties involved have been accounted for and Rogelio was transported to the Charlotte County Jail. He is being held there without bond and has been charged with murder.
