PINEDALE, WY — Harrowing details have emerged of a murder of a man in Wyoming.
The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office charged Rowan Littauer, 19, and Orion Schlesinger, 18, in connection with the death of a man in Pinedale, Wyoming, on February 5.
On the afternoon of February 5, 2025, Sublette County deputies responded to a report of a deceased male at a residence in Big Piney, according to a news release.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered 23-year-old Dakota Farley of Big Piney inside the home with significant injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the initial investigation, Littauer and Schlesinger were taken into custody for questioning.
On February 7, Littauer was charged with Murder in the first degree and Mutilation of a dead human body. Schlesinger has been charged with Conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree, and Felony Theft in connection with Farley’s death.
According to a probable cause statement, investigators received text messages that said “Rowan shot Dakota with a bow and 2 hours” and “one less pedifile (sic) now.” It was unclear who sent the messages.
Court documents indicate the two teens thought Farley was a pedophile, but police were unsure why Littauer and Schlesinger thought this and did not have “verified information” of criminal activity involving Farley and juveniles. Littauer admitted to police that he “shot a man with a bow and two arrows” then used his phone’s map app to show them the location of Farley’s home.
Littauer further disclosed Schlesinger was there when he killed him, police said.
The affidavit alleged Littauer shot Farley with arrows “through the right arm and into his chest, resulting in his nearly-instantaneous death,” and then shot eight BBs into Farley’s head. Schlesinger the allegedly stole a .22 caliber revolver belonging to Farley.
Both the bow and arrow and the BB gun were recovered by police.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information about the case can contact Detective Sergeant Travis Lanning at 307-367-4378.
Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
