MADBURY, NH — Authorities have confirmed that a popular figure on TikTok shot and killed her husband and two of their children before taking her own life earlier this week.

According to WCAX, law enforcement responded to a home on Moharimet Drive in Madbury, New Hampshire, just before 8:30 p.m. on Monday, August 18, following a 911 call reporting multiple fatalities inside the residence.

Inside, police discovered the bodies of 48-year-old Ryan Long, his wife Emily Long, 34, and their two children—8-year-old Parker Long and 6-year-old Ryan Long.

Autopsy results released Wednesday by New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella paint a grim picture. Associate Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Abigail Alexander determined that both children died from single gunshot wounds to the head; their deaths were ruled homicides.

Dr. Jennie V. Duval, New Hampshire’s Chief Medical Examiner, concluded that Ryan Long died from multiple gunshot wounds, also a homicide.

Emily Long’s cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Her death has been ruled a suicide.

Based on the initial investigation, officials believe Emily Long used a handgun from the home to fatally shoot her husband and two children in the early morning hours, before turning the weapon on herself.

A third child, a toddler, was found alive and physically unharmed in the home. The surviving child is now in the care of family members, including grandparents and an aunt, and is being supported by friends and others in the community.

A GoFundMe has since been launched to assist with the child’s ongoing care.

As the investigation continues, Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati acknowledged that many questions remain unanswered. “One of the biggest questions they have right now is motive—why?” Agati said, noting that investigators are still reviewing the dynamics within the household. Authorities have urged the public not to jump to conclusions, stressing that there likely isn’t a single cause or stressor behind what happened.

In the days before the shootings, Emily Long had been active on social media. On TikTok, she shared glimpses into the family’s life, including posts about her husband’s struggle with brain cancer and her own efforts to prioritize her mental health and care for their children. Her final post spoke about taking steps to support her kids and herself.

On Thursday, residents gathered for a community vigil in Madbury, coming together in sorrow and solidarity, WMUR reported.

“It is certainly a shock. That’s obvious,” Madbury Town Manager Eric Fiegenbaum told WMUR. “We’re saddened and trying and coming together to support each other as it goes forward.”
