SAN ANTONIO, TX — Seventeen-year-old Alianna Ujueta arrived at a southwest Bexar County house party in the early hours of Sept. 28 with, as the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office put it, “her whole life ahead of her.”

According to the sheriff’s office, she was fatally shot around 2:30 a.m. in the 13640–13900 block of Luckey Road, where deputies later found her lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities say the suspected gunman, 18-year-old Deshawn Suggs, fled and is now wanted on a murder charge.

According to KSAT’s reporting, the sheriff’s office said a caller described a “violent altercation” involving several people that escalated before the shooting.

Witness accounts cited the San Antonio Express-News indicate the fight spilled into the street, where multiple gunshots were heard.

One witness told investigators, according to the sheriff’s office, that Ujueta had been shot and then run over by a black pickup truck packed with several people as it fled.

Deputies pronounced Ujueta dead at the scene. Investigators later recovered spent shell casings, clothing and jewelry from the area, the Express-News reported, and the sheriff’s office asked neighbors to share any relevant video footage.

Authorities have not released additional details about how Suggs was identified as the suspect. Court records cited by the Express-News show Suggs also faces an unrelated charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon from Sept. 19, as well as charges of terroristic threat of a family or household member, burglary of habitation and robbery connected to a Feb. 2 incident.

The sheriff’s office has repeatedly urged the public to help locate Suggs. According to the sheriff’s statement, anyone with information can call 210-335-6000 or email bcsotips@bexar.org, and tipsters may remain anonymous.

Ujueta’s family described their grief in a statement shared in September, saying their “hearts are shattered” and remembering the teenager’s radiant presence. “Ali’s signature smile was the first thing everyone noticed and the last thing anyone who loved her will ever forget,” they wrote. “It was a physical manifestation of the boundless joy and light she brought into every life she touched.”

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
