LAS VEGAS, NV — A late-night 911 call set off a chain of events that ended with a Las Vegas man accused of killing both of his parents and facing two counts of open murder.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday after a man called 911 claiming he had killed someone and intended to harm himself, according to reporting from KLAS.

Police traced that initial call to a home in the 6400 block of New Brunswick Avenue near East Washington Avenue in the east Las Vegas valley. As officers were en route, the caller phoned again, this time from the area of East Stewart Avenue and North Fogg Street, police said.

Officers responded to that second location and took 27-year-old Adrian Bailey into custody, according to a LVMPD statement.

When police then arrived at the New Brunswick Avenue residence, they found a man and a woman unresponsive in the living room, both suffering from apparent blunt force trauma injuries, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died, according to LVMPD.

Investigators later determined that Bailey struck both victims — identified by police as his father and mother — with an unknown object before leaving the home, FOX5 reported.

Neighbors described shock and sadness in the aftermath.

“It affected me so bad, because you know, I’ve known them forever,” neighbor Virginia Zimmermen told 8 News Now. “I was stunned too. It makes me, you know, want to cry. They told us a long time ago that they were having issues with him.”

Another neighbor, Javonte Smurfy, said the heavy police presence was jarring. “I couldn’t even sleep last night when I heard that,” he told the station. “We just experienced a lot of cop cars flying down the street when we came down.”

Bailey was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on two counts of open murder with a deadly weapon, court records show, as reported by KLAS and KSNV.

He made his initial court appearance Monday morning, and a subsequent hearing was scheduled for Dec. 31, FOX5 reported. The Clark County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the victims’ identities, along with the cause and manner of death.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section at 702-828-3521. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
