ALBANY, Ga. — Three more men have been indicted in a deadly assault that investigators say was tied to a gang initiation in south Georgia, months after the victim was brought to a hospital with severe head injuries and later died.
Albany police said Ricky Bernard Williams, 24, of Sylvester, was taken to the emergency room at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital on Jan. 4 with critical head trauma. He later died from those injuries. Detectives determined the assault happened in the 500 block of Pinson Road in Albany and said it was allegedly connected to a gang initiation.
According to WSB-TV, Ka Moree Jackson, 17, was initially arrested and charged with felony murder as the investigation continued. On Friday, Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced that a Dougherty County grand jury had now indicted three additional men prosecutors say were tied to the case and to the Inglewood Family Gangster Bloods, commonly known as IFGB.
Konterrious Floyd, 28, of Albany, also known as “Dan the Man,” was indicted on one count of felony murder, one count of aggravated assault, 10 counts of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, and one count of illegal use of a communication device. Levontay McDaniel, 26, of Sylvester, also known as “YBA Jit,” was indicted on the same charges. Kawaski Brantley, 33, of Hampton, also known as “Hvncho Gotti,” was indicted on one count of felony murder, one count of aggravated assault, and six gang-act violations.
Carr called the violence in Dougherty County “absolutely unacceptable” and said authorities would find, arrest and prosecute people involved in gang activity that puts families and children at risk. Albany Police Chief Michael Persley described Williams’ death as a “tragic and senseless loss.” Authorities said the IFGB originated in Inglewood, California, and has several subsets, including the “80’s,” which detectives say is common in Albany. The investigation remains ongoing, and police said additional arrests are possible.
Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
