HUMBLE, TX — Marcus Harris, 20, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound after deputies responded around 9:15 p.m. Thursday to The Henry at Woodland Hills apartment complex in the Humble area, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told investigators they heard Harris and 17-year-old Jazlyn Easter arguing before gunshots rang out. They also reported seeing a dark-colored vehicle leave the area after the shooting.
According to KHOU, Easter later returned to the apartment complex in the same vehicle and told deputies she was there when Harris was shot. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said detectives identified Easter as the defendant and charged her with murder.
Earlier Friday, Sgt. Gregory Pinkins said investigators believed the teen may have been involved in the shooting and did not believe there were any other outstanding suspects. Pinkins also said investigators had not located a gun.
Detectives said Harris and Easter were in a dating relationship and believe the shooting stemmed from an argument over infidelity. Crime scene investigators and homicide detectives responded to continue the follow-up investigation, and authorities said they are still working to obtain surveillance video from the area.
The investigation remains ongoing.
