ST. PAUL, MN — A 30-year-old St. Paul man is in custody after police say three people were shot to death inside an apartment complex leasing office in the city’s Highland Park neighborhood.

Officers responded around 4:10 p.m. Monday to an apartment complex near St. Paul Avenue and West Seventh Street, where they found three victims dead inside the leasing office. The victims were identified as Nansi Fuentes Zambrano, 25, of Inver Grove Heights, Dena Silcox, 56, of St. Paul, and Adam Wilwerding, 43, of Oakdale.

KARE 11 reported that St. Paul police announced Tuesday the man was taken into custody Monday night in Virginia, Minnesota, by a St. Louis County sheriff’s deputy and brought back to police headquarters.

Other local reporting identified the suspect as Tsegaab Binessu, 30, of St. Paul. Police said he was being held on suspicion of second-degree murder as investigators continued working to determine what led up to the shooting and whether there were known connections between him and the three victims.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
