TWIN FALLS, ID — Three people were killed and seven others were injured Saturday when gunfire erupted at a newly opened In-N-Out Burger in a busy Twin Falls shopping plaza, leaving an employee among the dead and sending workers and customers scrambling for cover.
According to Associated Press reporting published by News4JAX and follow-up coverage from KTLA, the restaurant had opened on July 24, officials were still notifying victims’ relatives, and In-N-Out owner Lynsi Snyder later confirmed that one of the people killed was one of the chain’s employees.
Authorities said the shooting was reported around 2 p.m. near a heavily trafficked commercial area where hundreds of people were nearby. Police found the suspected gunman dead near the restaurant, but officials said they were still trying to determine the shooter’s identity and motive and had not confirmed whether the suspect was included in the fatality count.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene inside and outside the restaurant. One man said he saw a person with an AR-style rifle come out near the drive-thru as another man with a pistol fired at the shooter, while an employee and bystanders tried to pull a wounded worker to safety across the parking lot.
Other customers said they heard shots from inside the restaurant as an employee warned people to get down before families ran for cover. Multiple victims were taken to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center, and officials said some of the injured were in critical condition.
The FBI asked the public Sunday to submit images and video related to the shooting as investigators continued interviewing witnesses. Snyder said in a public statement that her heart was broken over the deaths of an employee and customers, and Twin Falls police planned another briefing Sunday as the investigation continued.
Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
