I cut my teeth in journalism when I began looking into what I saw as abuses of power in my local government. From then on, I was hooked on the dopamine rush of uncovering information.

LEAGUE CITY, TX — A woman died and her husband was seriously injured after police said the couple’s adult son stabbed both of them inside their League City home Friday night before barricading himself inside.

According to KHOU, the woman died at a hospital after both victims suffered multiple stab wounds, and her husband was initially left in critical condition. Click2Houston later reported the husband was in stable condition Saturday morning.

Police said the attack was reported shortly after 7 p.m. at a home in the 1300 block of Deer Ridge Drive in the Oaks of Clear Creek neighborhood. Investigators said the husband called 911 to report that he and his wife had been attacked, and officers found him outside the home with multiple injuries while he told them his wife was still inside with the suspect.

Officers forced their way into the house and pulled the woman out so League City Fire Department paramedics could take over care and rush both victims to a hospital. Police said the suspect refused to come out, so the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office drone team helped locate him inside a bedroom before officers used a Taser to take him into custody.

Authorities identified the suspect as Juan Jose Uribe Pelaez, the victims’ son. He was booked into the League City Jail on a murder charge and an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon family violence charge, with bond set at $250,000 on each count, and police said anyone with information should call the League City Police Department at 281-332-2566.
