CANYON LAKE, TX — A 40-year-old Kentucky man was arrested after deputies found a man fatally shot beneath a vehicle Monday morning in Canyon Lake.

KSAT reported that Brandon Woods was booked into the Comal County Jail on one count of murder and one count of failure to identify after the shooting in the 3000 block of Farm-to-Market Road 2673.

Deputies were dispatched around 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, on a report of a man bleeding from the head under a vehicle. When first responders arrived, paramedics told deputies the victim had no signs of life, and investigators later determined the man had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the victim has not yet been identified. Investigators said witness statements and evidence at the scene led them to identify Woods as the suspect.

The sheriff’s office said it remains unclear whether Woods and the victim knew each other. Deputies said the shooting appears to have been an isolated incident, there is no ongoing threat to the public, Woods’ bond had not been set as of Tuesday, and the investigation remains active.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
