ROCKY HILL, CT — A woman died after police responding to an assault call at a residential complex on Concord Drive found her suffering from stab wounds Saturday night and rushed her to Hartford Hospital, where she later died.

According to WTNH and WFSB, Rocky Hill officers were called around 9:15 p.m. to Concord Drive for a report of a woman being assaulted and found the victim with apparent stab wounds before emergency crews took her to the hospital.

WFSB reported the killing happened at the Lexington Estates complex, where investigators kept part of the property taped off while Connecticut’s Major Crimes Unit assisted Rocky Hill police. Police hadn’t released the woman’s name Sunday and said the homicide investigation remained active.

Later Sunday, the New Haven Register reported that Saratoga Springs police in New York detained a 55-year-old man after a license plate reader alert flagged a vehicle Rocky Hill police were seeking in connection with the case. Officers there said the man was taken into custody after a high-risk stop and that they were assisting Connecticut investigators.

Authorities still haven’t publicly explained the relationship between the victim and the detained man, and no further charges or identification details had been announced as of Sunday afternoon.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
