LOMITA, CA — A federal jury has convicted a Southern California man of killing two men in Lomita after prosecutors said he carried out the shootings on orders from an Aryan Brotherhood member serving time in state prison.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Justin Gray, 40, of San Pedro, was found guilty Wednesday of two counts of murder in aid of racketeering in the Oct. 4, 2020 killings. Prosecutors said Gray lured the victims from San Diego to Lomita, then, with help from another Aryan Brotherhood associate, shot both men in the head.

Federal officials said the killings were ordered by Francis Clement, an Aryan Brotherhood member who was incarcerated at Kern Valley State Prison at the time. Court evidence showed the order was tied to what prosecutors described as “disrespect” shown to the gang by one of the victims.

Gray was identified in court as a member of Baby Blue Wrecking Crew, a white-only gang that prosecutors said works under and takes orders from the Aryan Brotherhood. The Justice Department said Clement has already been sentenced to life in prison and that Gray now faces a mandatory life sentence when he is sentenced on Nov. 23 by U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Thurston.

The conviction is part of a broader federal racketeering case that charged Gray and 20 other defendants with crimes including RICO conspiracy, murder in aid of racketeering and narcotics offenses tied to the Aryan Brotherhood. Five other defendants are still awaiting trial, with proceedings currently scheduled for September 2027.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
