MARION, OH — A Marion County grand jury has indicted a Columbus man on aggravated murder and other felony charges in a stabbing that left a 31-year-old woman dead and another woman critically injured, and prosecutors are now seeking the death penalty.

According to 10TV, 41-year-old Donald Adams was indicted on charges of aggravated murder, murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and felonious assault. Marion County Prosecutor Ray Grogan announced Thursday that his office will seek the death penalty in the case.

The case stems from a stabbing reported just before 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 in the 1800 block of Twin Lakes Drive in Marion County. Investigators said Taylor Rae Coleman, 31, of Columbus, was found dead at the scene, while a 50-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries before being flown to a Columbus-area hospital.

Authorities said Adams was later apprehended by Delaware police and returned to Marion County. The indictment marks a major escalation in the case as prosecutors prepare to pursue capital punishment.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
