LAS VEGAS, NV — A male in his late teens was shot and killed outside a house party at a short-term rental home in southwest Las Vegas early Sunday, leaving police searching for the gunman and neighbors demanding answers about the impact of party houses in their neighborhood.

Officers were called around 2 a.m. to the 7200 block of Atascadero Creek Court near Warm Springs Road and Jones Boulevard, where they found the victim in a driveway with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the shooting happened after an altercation involving a group of people outside the house. During the fight, one person pulled a gun and shot the victim before fleeing, and investigators said the party was believed to be taking place at an Airbnb property.

According to reporting from KTNV, FOX5 Las Vegas, and the original case packet from 8 News Now, neighbors in the area said the deadly shooting has intensified concerns about short-term rentals and the trouble they believe those properties can bring to residential streets.

Investigators said the victim was not believed to live at the home, and police think many of the people involved may have known each other. Most of those at the gathering were believed to be in their teens or early 20s.

No arrest had been announced as of Monday, and the homicide investigation remained active. Police asked anyone with information to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section or Crime Stoppers of Nevada.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
