SAN ANTONIO, TX — San Antonio police are searching for a suspect who ran from an East Side shooting Thursday night after a confrontation inside a home on Lamar Street left one man dead and another injured.

According to KENS5, police said an uninvited guest showed up at the home at about 9:15 p.m., and the encounter quickly turned violent. Investigators said the suspect fled after the shooting, leaving officers to piece together what happened inside the house.

Police said a 40-year-old man was inside the home in the 1000 block of Lamar Street when a man he knew knocked on the door and forced his way inside. The intruder pointed a handgun at him, and the weapon discharged during a struggle.

Investigators said another man who was inside the home then opened fire. The intruder ran from the house after shouting that he had been shot, and responding officers found him outside with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.

The 40-year-old man was later taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the ankle and a graze wound to his arm. Police said he knew both the dead man and the suspect who fled, but authorities have not released any of their identities as the investigation continues.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
