SAN ANTONIO, TX — A 62-year-old woman died from a gunshot wound inside a South Side home Saturday evening, and a 70-year-old man was detained at the scene.

The man had contacted police before officers arrived, complaining that the woman was “bothering him,” according to an SAPD preliminary report cited by KSAT. Police said he then told responding officers he had shot her inside the house.

Officers responded just before 8 p.m. Sept. 12 to the 8500 block of Presa Street. They encountered the man outside, then entered the home and found the woman with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police detained the man there. KSAT’s Sept. 13 report did not identify either person, describe their relationship or specify any charges. The reported complaint does not establish a motive for the shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
