LAS VEGAS, NV — Jimea Mahmoud, 64, and Ibrahim Jihar, 69, have been identified as the parents killed in a Sept. 16 shooting at a central Las Vegas valley home that also left their 40-year-old son dead.

The Clark County coroner’s office identified the son as Abdelhafiz Abdelgader, according to 8 News Now. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Lt. Robert Price said Abdelgader called 911 and told dispatchers he had shot his parents. Another gunshot was heard during the call, followed by silence.

Officers responded shortly before 10 a.m. to the 1600 block of East Rochelle Avenue, near Flamingo Road and Maryland Parkway. They found three people with gunshot wounds.

Police said two people died at the scene and a third, a man, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The report did not specify which man was transported.

The coroner’s office determined that Mahmoud and Jihar each died from multiple gunshot wounds and classified both deaths as homicides. Abdelgader’s death was also attributed to multiple gunshot wounds, with the manner classified as suicide.

Neighbors described hearing yelling and screaming before police arrived in large numbers. One neighbor expressed sadness and surprise that the killings had happened in the area.

A woman living in an adjacent unit told 8 News Now that she had not heard gunfire but did hear a loud thud. The woman, who asked not to be identified, stepped outside to see what had happened and saw officers rushing to the complex.

The report did not establish a motive or describe any prior family history leading up to the shootings.
