BRIDGEPORT TOWNSHIP, MI — A 60-year-old father and his 16-year-old daughter were found dead inside their home Thursday morning in a suspected murder-suicide.

Both appeared to have died from gunshot wounds, police said, according to MLive. Investigators have not specified who they believe fired the shots.

Police responded around 8 a.m. Sept. 24 to the 2200 block of Indiana Avenue. A relative checking on the occupants had forced entry and discovered their bodies.

Police Chief Erik R. Skabardis said preliminary findings pointed to a murder-suicide, but investigative and forensic examinations must be completed before the circumstances can be determined. Autopsies are planned to establish the causes and manners of death.

Skabardis did not release their names and said there was no indication of an ongoing public threat. MLive reported that the homicide was Saginaw County’s 11th this year.
