MARION COUNTY, FL — Newly released dashcam video shows an Amber Alert suspect pointing a gun at Marion County deputies moments before officers opened fire during a traffic stop that ended with the suspect dead.

According to WFTV, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found Jason Castillo driving the suspect vehicle around 5:20 p.m. Monday and tried to stop him after he was linked to an Amber Alert.

Investigators said Castillo fled from deputies before they used a PIT maneuver that disabled his vehicle on U.S. Highway 441 near County Road 25A. As deputies got out of their cruiser and ordered him to exit, authorities said Castillo pointed a firearm at them and shots were fired.

Castillo was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Sheriff’s officials said he had been accused of abducting 13-year-old Juliet Louise Arioso from her Ocala home earlier Monday, but the girl was later found safe. The shooting remains under investigation.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
