BARTONVILLE, TX — A North Texas man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say he removed human remains from cemeteries, posted videos of them online and, in one instance, threw bones over the fence of an FBI office, according to authorities and court records.
According to an updated media release from the Bartonville Police Department, investigators — assisted by special agents and task force officers with the FBI and the Denton County Sheriff’s Office — executed a search warrant on March 18 in the 500 block of Oakwood Drive. The resident, identified as Michael Chadwick Fry, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Abuse of a Corpse, a state jail felony, and Tampering with Evidence, a third-degree felony under Texas law.
The investigation began after officers were dispatched to the home for reports of suspicious activity. Police said the reporting party told them Fry had requested money to rent a U-Haul in order to “move a body.” According to Bartonville police, a bulletin was issued to locate Fry and monitor for related activity.
Shortly afterward, investigators received what they described as credible information from FBI special agents indicating Fry had thrown a bucket containing human bones over the fence of the FBI’s Dallas field office.
Arrest documents cited by Fox 4 state Fry had asked his mother for money to rent a truck because he “had a body that needed to be moved,” and that he became irate and left before officers arrived.
Authorities say the investigation quickly expanded into a joint effort between local police and federal agents. During the course of the investigation, Fry was found to have posted online videos depicting separate human remains and an urn of ashes at the Oakwood Drive residence, according to the Bartonville Police Department.
One video referenced in the arrest affidavit, titled “We send Elizabeth over the FBI fence to summon them by force,” allegedly shows Fry throwing a bucket he claimed contained “Elizabeth’s remains” over the FBI property fence. The FBI later confirmed to local police that the bucket did contain human bones, according to Fox 4.
Another video, titled “Fry and Barto news! Where we reveal mass killers,” reportedly showed Fry holding a human skull inside his home. Investigators said Fry referred to the skull as “Elizabeth Virginia Lyon,” and testing is ongoing to confirm the identity of the remains.
Police later determined that Fry had stolen an urn containing human remains from a cemetery in Oklahoma City, where the Oklahoma City Police Department had been investigating a related theft case since February. In addition, FBI agents located evidence at a cemetery in Denton, Texas, indicating that a coffin containing human remains had been removed from a mausoleum, according to the Bartonville Police Department.
Further details from the affidavit indicate Fry’s mother told investigators she noticed recent GPS searches for cemeteries in Arlington and Oklahoma, as well as a new shovel at their home and that Fry had begun locking a shed behind the residence.
According to CBS News, Denton County court records show Fry has been arrested more than two dozen times since 2003 on a range of charges, including assault bodily injury, burglary of a habitation, theft of property, terroristic threat and resisting arrest.
He was also previously involved in a 2018 incident in which police say he repeatedly crashed a rented pickup truck into a downtown Dallas television station during a live morning broadcast. According to CBS News, Fry scattered thousands of papers marked with phrases such as “high treason” and “witchery” during the घटना, which were tied to a 2012 Denton County officer-involved shooting in which he had been a passenger. No injuries were reported, and he was charged with criminal mischief.
The Bartonville Police Department said the investigation remains active and ongoing, with continued assistance from the FBI and Denton police. Authorities said next of kin have been notified, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
