VANCE COUNTY, NC — Human remains found during a multi-agency search in North Carolina have been identified as a woman who went missing in December 2023.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, and with the assistance of the Youngsville Rescue Dive Team, executed searches in Vance County on January 30, 2025, according to a statement issued online.
During the search, human remains were discovered, which were sent to the NC Medical Examiner’s Office. The remains were identified as Dana Leigh Mustian.
According to local CBS affiliate WNCN, Mustian was reported missing after she failed to show up at her daughter’s 6th birthday party during the first weekend of December 2023.
She was reportedly last seen at her Warrenton, NC, home on November 30, 2023, when she was dropped off by her father.
Several searches on land and water took place in February 2024, WNCN reported.
Her disappearance and death is continuing to be investigated, police said.
No other information will be released by authorities at this time.
