TUCSON, AZ — “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie issued a tearful plea to the people who abducted her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing from her home since late January.

Savannah, 54, said in the video that her family still has hope and continues to believe in her mother’s return. She spoke directly to the captors, stating that it is never too late to do the right thing.
“It’s been two weeks since our mom was taken. And I just wanted to come on and say that we still have hope. And we still believe,” Savannah began her message.
Addressing Nancy’s abductors directly, she continued, “I wanted to say to whoever has her or knows where she is that it’s never too late. And you’re not lost or alone. And it is never too late to do the right thing. And we are here. And we believe. And we believe in the essential goodness of every human being.”
The journalist told the viewers that she believes in the essential goodness of every person. She also wrote in the video’s caption that she wants her mother brought home.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen Jan. 31. An urgent search by local authorities began the following day. The investigation into her kidnapping reached the 15-day mark as of Sunday.

The search entered its 12th day last week. Savannah previously shared a video from her childhood on Feb. 12, stating that the family will not give up on the efforts to find her mother.
On Feb. 10, the FBI posted surveillance footage and photographs on social media. According to People magazine, the images showed an armed subject at the door of her mother’s house on the night she disappeared.
Savannah accompanied the release of those images with a statement expressing her conviction that her mother remains alive. She urged the individuals involved to bring her home.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has not released further details regarding the identity of the armed subject seen in the surveillance footage. Detectives continue to follow leads in the case.
