LOS ANGELES, CA — Nick Pasqual, an actor who appeared in How I Met Your Mother, was sentenced after a jury convicted him of attempted murder in the May 2024 stabbing of L.A.-based makeup artist Allie Shehorn, along with injuring a spouse or partner, first-degree burglary and rape.

Prosecutors said Pasqual broke into Shehorn’s Shadow Hills home shortly before 4:30 a.m. on May 23, 2024, and repeatedly stabbed her with a knife. Trial reporting said Shehorn showed visible scars on her hands and neck when she testified.

According to the Los Angeles Times and a syndicated version published by AL.com, Shehorn had sought a restraining order against Pasqual days before the attack, detailing what she described as sexual and physical abuse. A judge approved the order, though the reports said it was unclear whether Pasqual had been served before the stabbing.

Shehorn’s friend and roommate, Christine White, found her lying in a pool of blood and called emergency services. Friends said Shehorn was stabbed more than 20 times. She underwent emergency surgery and spent days in intensive care after the attack.

Authorities later stopped Pasqual at a border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, and extradited him back to Los Angeles to face prosecution.

The former couple had met while working on Zack Snyder’s film Rebel Moon, where Pasqual was a background actor and Shehorn worked as a makeup artist.

Last week, Shehorn also sued Pasqual in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The 17-page civil complaint accuses him of sexual battery, assault and negligence, among other claims, and repeats allegations tied to the 2024 stabbing that led to his attempted murder conviction.

The criminal sentence closes one part of the case, but the civil litigation means the fallout from the attack is still continuing in court.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
