ELKINS, WV — A 33-year-old man in Randolph County was arrested after deputies said he repeatedly misused 911 by making bizarre false reports about zombies, ghosts, and an unidentified flying object at his home.

According to WFTV’s report citing the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, booking records, and WBOY, Clinton Wayne Nelan, 33, of Elkins, was arrested Sunday.

Deputies said Nelan repeatedly called 911 to report zombies, ghosts, and a UFO at his residence. When authorities arrived, they said Nelan claimed several people were harassing him and also told deputies he was a police officer from Louisiana.

Investigators later determined that Nelan was not a law enforcement officer and that he had been using the emergency system to make false reports, according to the sheriff’s office.

Nelan was charged with misuse of a local emergency telephone system and impersonating a law enforcement officer. He was booked into Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a cash-only bond of $2,500, according to online records.

Presumption of Innocence: A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is presumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The defendant in this case is only accused of the charges set forth in the criminal complaint. They are innocent until proven guilty.
