LOS ANGELES, CA – Authorities have executed a search warrant at a Hollywood Hills home where indie-pop singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, had been living.

According to law enforcement sources who spoke to ABC News on Thursday, the search is connected to an ongoing investigation into the death of a teenage girl whose body was discovered in the trunk of a Tesla registered to the 20-year-old artist. Los Angeles Police Department detectives were seen removing a computer and several other items from the residence, which the singer does not own, but had been staying at.

The LAPD confirmed Thursday that the search warrant was served in connection with the teenager’s death. In a statement, the department noted that “several items of evidence were recovered and will be analyzed by detectives in the coming days” and that “this is an ongoing investigation. Investigators are following up on several leads.”

The circumstances surrounding her death and how her body came to be in the front trunk of the car are currently unclear, investigators told ABC News. The cause of death is still being determined by the medical examiner, which sources said is proving difficult.

The development follows the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office identifying the body as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas on Wednesday. The teen, from Lake Elsinore, was reported missing last year, investigators confirmed to ABC News.

The body was discovered on September 8 in the front trunk of the Tesla, two days after it had been towed from a Los Angeles street, as previously reported by CrimeCod. The decomposed and dismembered body was found in a bag, according to a police statement and sources who spoke to TMZ and NBC News.

A senior LAPD source told ABC News that the vehicle, which has Texas plates, is one of several owned by the singer, and that various people use them at any given time. A Hollywood resident, Paymin Danielpour, recalled seeing the distinctive-looking Tesla parked on the street for some time, initially in front of the house that was searched and later in two other spots on the same street.

“It’s a little weird to see a car that I haven’t seen here for a long time,” Danielpour said in an interview with ABC7. “It had a big dent on it, had a Texas plate on it. So, all a little odd, but at the same time, you know, people could be hanging out with friends for a long time.”

The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division is leading the death investigation, although it is not classified as a homicide investigation because authorities do not yet know how she died, law enforcement sources explained to ABC News. No arrests have been made.

Police responded to an impound lot in Hollywood on September 8 “for a foul odor coming from a vehicle,” according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Authorities located a body in the front trunk of the Tesla that was in a state of decomposition, LAPD sources said.

The victim, who was about 5-foot-1 with wavy black hair, was wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal bracelet, and metal stud earrings, according to the medical examiner. She also had a tattoo on her right index finger that read “Shhh…”

The singer’s representative and lawyer are yet to make a comment.

D4vd, who first went viral on TikTok where he has 3.8 million followers, released his debut album in April and has been on tour since August. The tour’s stop in Seattle on Wednesday was canceled. He is next set to perform in San Francisco on Friday and Los Angeles on Saturday.
